SyntheSys Defence extends its Tactical Data Link Online Training Programme

 

Following the successful delivery of a range of online Tactical Data Link (TDL) Training courses earlier this year, registration is now open for a further two online courses.

Delegates can join us for two introductory courses, taking place week commencing 16^th November 2020.  We will begin the week with a short, half day course on Joint Range Extension Application Protocol (JREAP) where delegates will gain a comprehensive understanding of the protocol.

Thereafter, the Introduction to Multifunctional Information Distribution System (MIDS) Link 16 Training will run between 17^th – 20^th November 2020.  This course covers both technical and operational employment of MIDS Link 16 and aims to give a balanced understanding of technical characteristics.

SyntheSys Defence Provides Free Online Tactical Data Link Training

During this difficult period many of us are looking for flexible ways of developing and maintaining key skills, and with so many face-to-face training courses now being cancelled, online training delivery is now more relevant than ever.

In response, we would like to share the full schedule for Free Tactical Data Link (TDL) Training to be delivered by our SyntheSys Defence team:   

• 6^th May 2020 at 09:30 – An Introduction to MIDS/Link 16;
• 20^th May 2020 at 09:30 – An Introduction to Link 22;
• 3^rd June 2020 at 09:30 – An Introduction to Variable Message Format (VMF).

Each delegate attending the course will also receive a free copy of the Introduction to TDLs E-Book to support and enhance the learning experience.  Registration for the live online training sessions must be made via our Defence Community Portal which will also give access to other useful TDL resources.

Great to see you at IDLS!

As Berlin marks the 25^th anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall on 9^th November 1989, we reflect on our attendance at the International Data Link Symposium (IDLS) 2014.

In keeping with our overall business objective to create an integrated Tactical Data Link (TDL) Community, we were pleased to see so many delegates participate in our ‘Follow the Link’ activity. Congratulations to Mads Pedersen and Andreas Saatze who were each the lucky winners of a Kindle Fire HD6.

Our training day for this year’s show took an interactive approach and was based primarily on our Data Link Manager/Interface Control Officer (DLM/ICO) training course.  The DLM/ICO course is designed to inform individuals with little or no knowledge of TDLs and associated responsibilities to a stage where they can plan, design and manage Data Link Networks.  Many thanks to those who attended.

The Data Link Training Suite (DLTS) was in full force at the event and we are eagerly anticipating further discussions about this powerful application and how it will shape the future of TDL Training.

Our educational contribution did not end there.  Our Advanced Link 16 presentation, as part of the educational stream, gave delegates an understanding about Joint Tactical Information Distribution System/Multifunctional Information Distribution System (JTIDS/MIDS) Link 16.  The presentation focused on time slot structure and how to calculate a specific Network Participation Group (NPG) capacity within Network Designs which stimulated some excellent discussion points.

For delegates particularly interested in Variable Message Format (VMF), we delivered a presentation on Day 2 giving an introduction to this subject.

We extend special thanks to Diginext with whom we partnered to deliver our Open Test Lab.  The Test Lab enabled us to establish a common interface in order to demonstrate requirements engineering, development engineering, testing, training, analysis and results recording.  These functions are then able to support individual programmes and the system-of-systems for interoperability through-life.

Here at SyntheSys, we look forward to the annual IDL Symposium and this year’s event did not disappoint.  It was a great opportunity to talk to our customers and friends, old and new and as ever, we had an enjoyable time in Berlin.

CUSTOMER WIN: HP Enterprise Services Defence & Security Ltd UK selects SyntheSys to deliver TDL Network Design Station Training

SyntheSys announce that HP Enterprise Services Defence & Security is the latest organisation to invest in the company’s Tactical Data Link (TDL) Network Design Station (TNDS) training capability. Held in the UK, SyntheSys welcomes attendees from the UK Joint Data Link Management Organisation, Danish Data Link Management Cell (DLMC), Finnish DLMC and Italian DLMC

SyntheSys’ TNDS training is the only training solution combining technical expertise with computer-based training, which not only examines the capabilities of TNDS but empowers attendees to identify the correct calculus in which to construct Multifunctional Information Distribution System (MIDS) Link 16 networks and how to employ the full features of TNDS to ensure operational effectiveness for both the user and TDL community.

The TNDS is a fully integrated, WindowsTM-based facility for the planning, design, distribution and configuration management of TDL Network Designs. SyntheSys Turkish Delight

SyntheSys are very pleased to have recently completed Tactical Data Link related training to a leading Turkish manufacturer at their premises in Ankara. The training, which took place in mid February, has provided those attending with the information required to fully understand the requirements of their future tasking.

SyntheSys Upgrade JRE Training Capability

Through our unique agreement with Engility, the manufacturers of Joint Range Extension (JRE), we have now upgraded our JRE training suite to incorporate the latest version of software. 

This upgrade provides increased functionality to further enhance our JRE and Multi TDL training events. Students at our JRE/JREAP training courses will have the opportunity to utilise this software to increase their understanding of JRE and the associated protocols.

JRE Training for the Dutch Armed Forces

Following on from last year’s JRE installation, SyntheSys are providing a further JREAP and JRE training course in the Netherlands. The course will provide training encompassing the JREAP protocols, as well as hands on training using the installed JRE system. The training, which takes place in mid-January, will ensure that the personnel are fully able to carry out their future operational roles.

SyntheSys to provide JREAP training to the Italian Air Force

SyntheSys would like to wish all customers past, present and future a very happy and prosperous new year. We are also very pleased to have been invited to provide Joint Range Extension Application Protocol (JREAP) training to the Italian Air Force at the Command and Control Systems Management and Innovation Department (Re.G.I.S.C.C.) in Pratica Di Mare Air Force Base near Rome (Italy). The training, which will take place in February 2014, will cover the theory of JREAP, as well as hands on training utilising the SyntheSys JRE training suite. 2013 in Reflection

As 2013 comes to a close, it is a good opportunity to reflect on the successes of the year for the team here at SyntheSys.

Tony Castle and his Training team have been very busy providing training on Link 16, VMF, JRE(AP), network management and TNDS training both in the UK and across Europe. We also extended our training capabilities into non-military domain with Systems Engineering in support of the UN International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna.

Mark Hudspeth and his MLTF team have been very successful on TDL Testing with the Multi Link Test Facility for UK and International Interoperability Trials, support to the F-35 Lightning II, and the Joint Maritime Theatre Missile Defence Experimentation.  We look forward to the increased use of MLTF in 2014 to support interoperability testing between UK and other nations.

Our IBM team was bolstered in the summer when Hitesh Bechar joined us from IBM. Hitesh has made an immediate impact in the provision of technical support and delivery of IBM Rational technical services to our clients. SyntheSys have been supporting new and existing IBM Rational clients as the technology of software and systems development increases ever more rapidly.

SyntheSys provides Variable Message Format Training to Norwegian F-35 Programme

Members of the Norwegian F-35 programme have recently been provided with Variable Message Format (VMF) training by SyntheSys. The training took place at Branston Hall Hotel, near Lincoln, England, and consisted of a 2 and a half day introductory course covering the bearer, application header, and messaging protocols. SyntheSys provides Link 16 Training Course to the E-3D Software Support Team

SyntheSys has recently completed delivery of a 2 and a half day Introduction to JTIDS/MIDS Link 16 Training Course to members of the E-3D Software Support Team (SST) at RAF Waddington, Lincoln, England. The course was provided to allow the members of the SST a better understanding of the fundamental operating protocols for JTIDS/MIDS Link 16. This knowledge will then assist them in the furtherance of their future duties. SyntheSys would like to thank the E-3D SST for the invitation to provide this training, and for their hospitality. SyntheSys delivers Link 16 Network Design Training to Cassidian

SyntheSys are pleased to announce the delivery of a Link 16 Network Design Course at Eurofighter System Support Centre in Manching, Germany. Personnel from both Cassidian and the German Air Force were provided with an in depth understanding of Link 16 Network Design and the importance of correctly assessing a platforms requirements.  Specifically focused on the Typhoon Eurofighter, personnel were instructed on the calculus involved to create the most efficient Network Designs based upon both extensive research and analysis of the platform and assessment of Link 16 documentation. SyntheSys are very pleased to have again been invited by the Dutch National Data Link Management Cell at Nieuw Milligen to provide further training for their personnel. The training, which will cover Link 22, VMF and JREAP, will take place over 5 days at the end of November 13. This course will be the fifth time that SyntheSys has provided TDL training at the Dutch NDMC.
