IT Governance congratulates SyntheSys on achieving Cyber Essentials certification

SyntheSys is proud to announce that we have achieved Cyber Essentials, a Government-backed cyber security certification that sets out a minimum standard for cyber security.

The Cyber Essentials scheme outlines five security controls to help organisations mitigate cyber risks and improve their cyber security posture. To achieve certification, organisations are required to address their boundary firewalls and Internet gateways, implement secure configuration, adequately manage access control and administrative privilege management, implement patch management, and ensure malware protection.

Nikki Haynes, Operations Manager of SyntheSys, said: “Achieving Cyber Essentials was seen as a way to demonstrate a level of assurance to our customers, by showing that security controls are in place to protect the business, its IT systems and information, and that these controls have been assessed against an independent, formal framework. ‘’

SyntheSys is Proud to Announce that it has Signed an Armed Forces Covenant with the MOD

The Armed Forces Covenant is a commitment between the Armed Forces community, the nation and the Government.  It encapsulates the moral obligation to ensure that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated fairly.  By working with a range of businesses, local authorities, charities and the public, the Government is committed to delivering the best possible outcomes for the Armed Forces community.

The Covenant’s twin underlying principles are that members of the Armed Forces community should face no disadvantage compared to other citizens in the provision of public and commercial services; and that special consideration is appropriate in some cases, especially for those who have given the most, such as the injured or the bereaved.

Over 670 companies and organisations have signed a corporate covenant and we are happy to be one of these companies.  Since 2011 over £170 million of contributed funding has been allocated to support covenant commitments including:

  • A £35 million fund focusing on mental health and injured personnel
  • A total of £21 million for key World War I and II commemorations, veterans with service related hearing problems, and to help set up a third care home for Gurkha veterans in Nepal
  • £20 million to improve the infrastructure for service childcare support
  • A £40 million Veterans Accommodation Fund

We are proud to be accepted onto the register and see this as yet another indication of our commitment to our Armed Forces.  We also offer a 5% discount for all military ID card holders.
