Air Defence System Integrator Upgrade Testing Success

The Air Defence System Integrator (ADSI) which is operated by Number 1 Air Control Centre, RAF, has just undergone a software and hardware upgrade to become more sustainable. Ultra Electronics Command and Control Systems delivered the new hardware and software and the SyntheSys testing team supported the upgrade on behalf of the Situational Awareness Command and Control (SACC) Delivery Team (DT) by providing a Subject Matter Expert to act as Test Director and independent observer.

adsi dual monitor cpciJohn Miller, Technical Director for SyntheSys commented that “The service provided included a series of factory acceptance and site acceptance tests.  To provide further test evidence we also utilised the Multi Link Test Facility (MLTF) to test for the ADSI conformance to TDL standards and interoperability with other UK air platforms such as the Sentry E-3D.  These further tests demonstrated how the MLTF provides a highly effective, low cost and low risk approach to testing.”

SyntheSys delivers TDL Network Design Station (TNDS) Training with HP

SyntheSys is pleased to announce the delivery of TNDS training to both the UK Joint Data Link Management Organisation and Finnish Air Force personnel. The 5 day course centered on TNDS operating procedures and its associated planning tool. Synthesys and HP fully recognise the merits of providing personnel with the operational knowledge to assist in improved use of TNDS. Consequently, the training course was balanced to provide both the operational and technical aspects of how to employ the tool more effectively. This was positively endorsed by all students.

SyntheSys & IBM Rational

Optimise your Software and Systems Engineering development

As a Systems Engineering Company providing services to the defence industry for over twenty years, we know a thing or two about the difficulties of managing projects and developing solutions in highly regulated industries. The current economic climate has stressed the imperative that this development work needs to be carried out smarter and more efficiently, regardless of the domain.

SyntheSys have been using a number of solutions from the Rational portfolio for many years and have accrued expertise in the delivery, implementation and support of these solutions within our own business and are in a position now to offer support to others in the procurement and utilisation of these solutions. We are an IBM Advanced Business Partner and certified to both resell and provide value add technical support.

I regularly speak with development teams who are completely unaware of the capabilities of IBM Rational within both software development and systems engineering and are delighted to find that there are tools out there that ultimately designed to make the job easier. Inevitably the focus turns to cost and often it is a case of "Can we afford not to embrace current technology to optimise the business process?"

The Rational toolset supports the entire engineering lifecycle from requirements definition through design, implementation and test. All underpinned by collaborative lifecycle management with change control and planning. SyntheSys will be presenting a webinar on 23rd May to provide a high level overview of these capabilities. Registration for this event is at http://bit.ly/15RrDj9. I hope that you will join me for this peek at the current capabilities and how they may accelerate and optimise your development environments, either in software or in systems domains.

For background information on the capability areas check out our website, where there are a number of white papers and videos for your consideration.

SyntheSys at NTDLS - Calpe

SyntheSys attended the 16th NATO Tactical Data Link Symposium at Calpe on 11 - 14 March 2013. Phil Angus and Paul (Ski) Czajkowski represented the Company and provided briefs on BLOS Communications in the Urban Environment and the UK Multi-Link Test Facility, which is operated by SyntheSys on behalf of the MOD.

Ski also chaired a Link 16 Network Design Workshop, which drew attendance from a wide range of interested military and commercial partners in the domain of data link and network management. We were able to discuss a number of TDL-related operational and training issues with many national TDL specialists from within NATO, and with Industry.

The whole event was conducted in a relaxed but professional manner, thereby encouraging free and frank discussion.

SyntheSys acquire JRE Software

We are very pleased to announce that through our collaboration with Engility Corporation we have now taken delivery of the Joint Range Extension (JRE) software. This allows us to both provide JRE demonstrations, and also provide a hands on user experience in the classroom. From now, we will be offering the use of this facility as an extension to our very popular JREAP training course. Should you wish to have further information about this, or any of our other products, please contact us at training@synthesys.co.uk or phone +44 1947 821464.
