SyntheSys Defence recently attended the PATRICK BLACKETT
Industry Day at HMS Nelson, Portsmouth, as part of a NavyX sponsored
event. Part of the Royal Navy’s Develop
Directorate the NavyX team, who seek to work collaboratively,
differently, and at pace, took the opportunity to commence engagement between
the Royal Navy (RN) and industry partners on capabilities that will accelerate
lethality and autonomy for the RN, with a focus on using NavyX maritime
platforms.
The presenting team set out the NavyX vision
alongside a high-level overview of the aspirations going forward and to gauge
how future projects might exploit the experimentation platforms, MADFOX, APAC24
and XV PATRICK BLACKETT. Attendees were
fortunate to undertake the opportunity to go aboard the XV PATRICK BLACKETT and
gain a deeper insight into the latest trials acquisition. The ship was named in recognition of the
renowned Nobel Prize winning experimental physicist and Director of Naval
Operational Research, Patrick Maynard Stuart Blackett, who saw active service
in the First World War. An exciting and
blustery Industry Day was enjoyed by all attendees!

associated Navy X testbed programme can be read here:
