We are eagerly anticipating the upcoming Digitalisation & Cyber Security Conference where we will be representing all corners of SyntheSys.  Hosted by the North East of England’s Process Industry Cluster (NEPIC), this one day event takes place at Hardwick Hall, Sedgefield in the North East on the 6th December 2022.

It’s widely accepted that digitalisation across engineering and manufacturing sectors brings untold opportunity, but this opportunity also brings unique cyber risks.  The Digitalisation & Cyber Security conference aims to bring together the North East’s thriving process sector to explore automation and digitalisation, whilst shining a spotlight on the growing need for robust cyber security for manufacturers.

IDLS 2022 – Superiority via Information and Communication, Exploring Net Zero and Plenty of Networking!

 

Members of the Data Link and related defence communities are no doubt eagerly anticipating this year’s International Data Link Symposium, which once again runs as a physical event after the remote symposiums.  This next physical event takes place between 8-10 November in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

We are pleased to announce that SyntheSys Defence will be represented by Mark Hudspeth (Managing Director), Roland Kemp (Consultant) and Kate Chandler (Senior Consultant).

IDLS 2022 presents a great opportunity to see new technologies, different solutions and meet with other industry professionals to discuss pertinent topics.  This year’s event theme ‘Achieving Superiority through Information and Communication Services’ is relevant now more than ever and we are positive this will make for a thought-provoking and insightful event. 

Kate will be exploring Net Zero in a Tactical Data Link (TDL) context during her brief which looks at next-generation multi-domain technologies and economic benefits.  Kate will be joined by SyntheSys Defence Managing Director, Mark Hudspeth and Consultant, Roland Kemp.

Playing our Part in Building Towards a Brighter Future at the INCOSE Annual Systems Engineering Conference

 

SyntheSys Technologies is delighted to be exhibiting at the Annual Systems Engineering Conference (ASEC) 2022, which will be held at the Crowne Plaza, Newcastle, on 22-23 November 2022.

 

Having attended ASEC many times before, we are excited to see what this year’s theme ‘Building Towards a Brighter Future’ will bring.

Students from Caedmon College Whitby Complete their STEAM Projects for this year’s ‘S Challenge’

 

The ‘S Challenge’ was created to influence students to research a subject of their choice and create a project considering aspects of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths).  When the students of Key Stage 3 finished their projects, they were asked to present in front of two judges, Kirsty Brown representing Caedmon College Whitby and a representative from SyntheSys.

This year’s competition brought many creative and insightful projects.  We would firstly like to congratulate all partakers of KS3 for making a step in their life to pursue their passion, as well as having the courage to present their findings in front of judges.  This is not an easy task, and we can congratulate them for showing such passion and initiative at such a young age.

Secondly, we would like to congratulate the joint winners of this year’s prize; Emily with her ‘Fast Fashion’ Project and Tristan’s Coding project.  Emily’s ‘Fast Fashion’ established many issues we face with the world today and how the fashion industry, specifically fast fashion, is contributing to the global climate.  We were blown away by her artistic representation of this matter which is why we gave her 1^st place.  Tristan’s coding project was inspired from an information and Communication Technology (ICT) lesson but the way he took his knowledge to the next level stunned the judges.  Tristan created a report that looked at the evolution of coding and his predictions on the future of technology.  On top of this report, Tristan created his own computer game that demonstrated his hard work and understanding of coding.  As both subjects showed great initiative and included multiple aspects of STEAM, we felt it was only fair to award 1^st place to both

“This is a fantastic opportunity for students to explore interests outside of the curriculum.  It allows them to develop their research, teambuilding, and presentation skills.  It was excellent to see such a diverse group of projects, and adding arts to the competition opened up new ways for students to present.  I am overjoyed with the entries we had this year, especially the winners Emily and Tristian, they produced work that we hadn’t seen in previous years and you could see the passion they had around their chosen topic.  A huge well done to everyone who took part and I am looking forward to continuing this project next year.”

Other special mentions include Dom, Toby and Angus with the Best Presentation award, Isaac with the Most Complex Topic award and Harry and Esme with the Examined Most Research award.  Very well done to you all.

“This year’s projects, yet again, never failed to amaze the judges with the brilliant young minds of Caedmon College, Whitby.  It is always a pleasure to be able to work with the pupils to expand their knowledge on subjects they are passionate about.  All participants should be proud of their final products and I would like to congratulate them on being creative and having the courage to think outside the box.  I hope to see them all again next year.”

An Invitation to Free Tactical Data Link Training this Summer!

 

 

SyntheSys Defence is delighted to announce we will be holding An Introduction to Tactical Data Links (TDLs) online training course on 18^th August 2022.

This introductory training session is suitable for personnel with all levels of experience and knowledge — perhaps as a refresher or as a starting point for your TDL education.

The course aims to introduce the need, features, and key functionality including Link 11, Multifunctional Information Distribution System (MIDS) Link 16, Link 22, and Variable Message Format.

 After a hiatus due to the pandemic, SyntheSys is delighted to announce it’s continued sponsorship of this year’s ‘STEAM Challenge’.

The STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) Challenge, formally the ‘STEM Challenge’ was created by SyntheSys in 2018 with the aim to give talented youngsters the opportunity to impress by putting contemporary challenges and themes in the spotlight.

The challenge tasks students with researching their chosen subject of interest. Then showing their findings by creating an informative presentation which will be assessed by an internal and external panel. Since the challenge was created, we have seen growing engagement and some amazing projects along the way. We are extremely excited to see the creative projects that this year will bring. The competition started at the beginning of June and all entries are to be submitted by the 1st of July with the presentation of the projects occurring the week after.
