Training Success, Ramstein Air Base – Data Link Manager / Interface Control Officer Course

After an almost two-year hiatus due to the COVID pandemic, we are happy to announce the successful completion of our Data Link Manager / Interface Control Officer (DLM/ICO) course, held at Ramstein Air Base from 1-19 November.

As the DLM/ICO is responsible for the entire Tactical Data Link (TDL) interface to include both planning and execution functions, it is critical the training scope is vast and comprehensive.  Over the course of three weeks North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) members from the Netherlands, Czech Republic, United States, Belgium, and Italy were provided with an in depth understanding of how to plan, build, interact and subsequently manage Multi TDL architectures.

The course focused on providing students with a series of challenging learning outcomes using practical exercises, simulation and real-world operational software.  This interactive process promotes a cooperative learning environment, allowing each student to progress with confidence and a developed knowledge of each TDL.

Our next stop is Frederikshavn, Denmark, where we are again delivering our DLM/ICO course to a group of NATO personnel representing Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and the Netherlands.

Training Success for NATO Integrated Multi-Link Facility – BU2, JTRS Upgrade and TNDS

Like many organisations, SyntheSys Defence responded to the COVID-19 pandemic with a schedule of online Tactical Data Link (TDL) training, to which we were overwhelmed with the response.  Whilst online delivery presents a flexible alternative, we are pleased to be back in front of customers delivering COVID-safe classroom training.

Our latest classroom course has taken us to the NATO Air Base at Geilenkirchen where Tony Castle and James Norful recently presented a 3-day training event for the Integrated Multilink Facility (IMF).  The course, which was attended by IMF personnel, and the Belgian Network Design Facility, trained students on both theoretical and practical aspects of the Block Upgrade 2 (BU2) and Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) upgrades, and the implications for Network Design in respect to the Tactical Network Design Station (TNDS).

Tony commented:

‘‘We would like to thank DXC for their support in the delivery of this training.  We are very pleased to be back in the classroom and have received positive feedback from the delegates.’’

Our next stop is Ramstein Air Base, where we are delivering our Data Link Manager/Interface Control Officer course to a group of NATO and United States (US) personnel.
