Pause4Thought – INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional Exam Preparation with SyntheSys Technologies

Certification within any industry sector is a sure-fire way to accelerate one’s career, INCOSE Certification adds considerable value to you as a systems engineer because the accreditation formally recognises your systems engineering technical capability.  It can be used as part of the hiring and promotion process and it encourages employee participation in continuing education.  It is also a useful tool for promoting professional competence and provides an independent internal and external assessment.

As the INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional (SEP) certification continues to gain traction globally as the defacto, ‘gold standard’ in systems engineering excellence, we are seeing more members of the community approaching us for support in preparing for the examination.

In response, we are inviting members of the community to join us for a short session on 18th April 2023 at 14:00 which will share some best practice, hints and tips for preparing to sit the INCOSE exam at Associate or Certified level.

Our INCOSE certified trainer, Mark Williamson, will be on-hand to give a high-level view of how the exam is structured and what candidates should consider when embarking on their preparation journey.

This session will also give candidates some information on the benefits of attending a formal preparation course.

Pause4Thought – An Introduction to Systems Engineering with SyntheSys Technologies

As the pace of change increases, development processes have adapted to a world where requirements can change at any stage of the life cycle, with a strong focus on the streamlined development of individual subsystems and iterative testing.  But this can give leaders a hard time keeping focus on the big picture.
Systems engineering methods strongly emphasise an ability to model the whole system, alongside a scientific methodology of requirements management, so its approach has to retain the clarity of project definition and process associated with a sequential life cycle model, while embracing the modern engineering reality of recursion, iteration, adaptability and change.

Join SyntheSys Technologies for a short, free introductory session on 18th April 2023 at 10am to explore why Systems Engineering is widely regarded as a key catalyst for engineering innovation across high-growth manufacturing and engineering sectors.

Our INCOSE certified trainer, Mark Williamson, will be delivering a high-level snapshot overview of the principles and practices of Systems Engineering.  This session will provide some baseline knowledge for those looking to build formal skills in the area and will also give those looking to attend a SyntheSys Technologies course a flavour of our training approach.

The Data Link Manager / Interface Control Officer (ICO) is responsible for the entire Tactical Data Link (TDL) interface from planning, right through to execution.  So it is critical that today's DLM/ICO receives comprehensive training.  And as simulated and practical training environments become central to national defence strategies and priorities, it is vital that individuals receive training which mirrors real-world scenarios.
Registration is now open for our Spring DLM/ICO course, which is set to take place in the Netherlands.

This 15-day course is designed to provide working knowledge to personnel whose role is to plan, build, manage, interact, develop and engage in Multi TDL Architectures and operations.  The DLM/ICO course is designed to catapult individuals with TDL experience to the next level where they can successfully and efficiently carry out their duties.

Our 2023 worldwide DLM/ICO tour is set to welcome delegates from different nations, and registration is open to join one of our courses.  We are also keen to speak to programme leaders who may be looking for in-house training and would like to host a course.

Training Success - Enhanced Tactical Data Link Knowledge and Skills via SyntheSys’ Multi-TDL Course

We march into 2023 and hit the ground running with our first Tactical Data Link (TDL) training course of the year.  The successful delivery of our Multi-TDL course was held at HQ Bonn, Germany from 9th- 18th January 2023.

Working with delegates from the Norwegian Battle Lab & Experimentation (NOBLE) organisation, along with personnel from various parts of the Norwegian Armed Forces, students participated in our eight-day Multi-TDL training, covering Multifunctional Information Distribution System (MIDS) Link 16, Joint Range Extension Application Protocol (JREAP), Link 22 and Variable Message Format (VMF).  The aim of the course was to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the various TDLs and how their successful integration can enhance overall communication capabilities among military personnel, enabling more effective coordination and mission success.

MIDS Link 16 is a widely used standard for air-to-air communication, allowing for seamless communication between aircrafts.  Link 22 offers enhanced data transfer capabilities compared to Link 16, increasing the speed and efficiency of information exchange.  JREAP and VMF provide additional methods for exchanging information, enabling more effective coordination between units.

Our next stop is Den Helder, the Netherlands where we are again delivering our Data Link Manager/Interface Control Officer (DLM/ICO) course.  The Nederlandse Belgische Operationele School has graciously offered to host our course which so far will be attended by delegates representing various organisations throughout NATO to include members from Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, and Finland between 3rd – 21st April 2023.  Limited availability remains so if you are interested in attending, please contact our team by emailing: training@synthesys.co.uk
