SyntheSys Update Training Website

We would like to invite all our friends and customers, past, present and future, to visit the newly renovated training area of the SyntheSys website. As well as containing details of our 2013 training programme, you can enjoy a video (starring yours truly) which details our training capabilities, and highlights some of the simulation capability which we can utilise to bring your courses to life.  I trust that you will find this of interest, and would be very pleased to provide you with further information. Just get in touch with us using the usual methods. The updated site can be seen at http://www.synthesystraining.co.uk/index.html

IBM Proof of Technology Event - Warwick

SyntheSys are continually evolving and developing new capabilities to support our customers and clients in our typical Defence domain, but also increasingly other commercial sectors. The main focus of this is currently through our knowledge and experience with IBM Rational software and systems engineering solutions.

SyntheSys work closely with the IBM Rational specialists to provide and support Collaborative Application Lifecycle Management (CALM) capabilities to industries across several functional domains.

An innovative way of engaging with current and potential IBM Rational customers is through Proof of Technology (PoT) events. There are several of these arranged throughout the year at various IBM sites, and they offer the ability to come along and have a hands on workshop to explore the capabilities, with specialists on hand to support and answer queries. I believe that this is much more effective than sitting through Powerpoint!

SyntheSys are supporting the next one of these at IBM Warwick on the 21st November 2012, where the focus will be the Systems and Software Engineering tools, DOORS, Team Concert, Rhapsody and Quality Manager. Check out the agenda.

If you would like to see how Rational and SyntheSys can help optimise your systems or software engineering processes a registration link is here.

For further information or advice on any IBM Rational queries, please contact ibm_rational@synthesys.co.uk.

IDLS 2012

IDLS 2012

Well, what a great and busy week at IDLS 2012!
On behalf of the SyntheSys IDL 2012 team I would like to thank our good friends and colleagues at IDLS 2012 in Athens who attended the IDLS training day and those who came to visit and discuss SPIRIT and our other products and services at our stand.

The feedback from the demonstrations and discussions on our interoperability assurance and management tool, SPIRIT, were very positive. If you didn’t get to see a demonstration and would like to, I will be happy to arrange one at a time and venue to suit you.

The general response from our training day event prior to the IDLS was very positive and from this we can consider it a success. Sam Southwell our course instructor for the training day would like to thank those who participated in making it a success.

We would also like to congratulate Torbjörn Ohlsson, Remi Latajka, Quint De Groot, Anastasios Lliopoulos and Bram Remmelzwaal who were the winners of our daily whisky draw.

If anyone who visited our stand in Athens would like any additional  information on our products and services, please contact me or any of the SyntheSys IDLS 2012 team and we will be happy to help.

Thanks and I hope to see you soon.

September Update & IDLS News

September is usually a busy month for everyone after the summer break and it’s no exception for us either. Firstly we have the forthcoming IDLS in Athens from 15-19 Oct and then we have had and are preparing for more training courses. We have also been busy supporting our various customers across the globe and working around the various multi-national holiday season to ensure that everyone receives the exemplary service we normally deliver.

IDLS

With just over a month to go before this year’s symposium we have been very busy preparing for the event. We are currently involved in providing a training day focussing on the thorny issue that is InterOperability (IO). While most people have some idea of what IO is, few have a good overview of all the different areas that come under this umbrella. More important is the fact that missing one of these can be costly in time, money or both. Having dealt with this area in depth over a long time the team felt that it would be good to highlight some of the points and hopefully prevent mistakes being repeated on other programmes. Currently (10 Sep 12) it appears that we will have sold out before the final week with 21 of the 30 available spaces already taken. The organisers tell us that they do not expect any spaces after about the next fortnight.

We are also giving a number of briefs during the event, one in the main forum and the others in the education stream. The main forum brief again focuses on IO assurance and while it cannot be as detailed as the teaching session it aims to ask searching questions and get the audience involved and thinking about the issues. We think that the audience will not only enjoy the session they will also get a lot out of it if they actively participate.

As part of the education stream we are giving 2 introduction briefs on JREAP & VMF. Most of the community know of our VMF expertise and need little prompting to come to us when they need assistance. However, we have recently been accredited by Engility (formerly L3-Commumications) to provide both JREAP & JRE training. Our courses have been approved by Engility so that our customers can be assured that the content will cover their needs exactly. We are the only company endorsed by them to provide this training and we are naturally very proud to have been selected.

Finally, don’t forget that we are holding a prize draw each day and YOU could be the lucky winner, but only if you enter! So drop by our stand where we will be very happy to see you and ask to be entered into the draw.

We are on Stand 10 and have an exciting present for those who come to see us early. We only have a limited number of these and once they are gone that’s it, so make sure you hurry over to see one of the team.

SyntheSys JRE Accreditation

Following successful completion of the Engility Communications Joint Range Extension (JRE) training course in San Diego, by Tony Castle, SyntheSys Training Manager, we are very pleased to be able to announce the launch of a teaming agreement between SyntheSys and Engility Communications. This agreement provides SyntheSys Engility accreditation for JRE and JREAP training courses, which ensures that all the information contained within the course is accurate and up to date. It also provides for the latest updates for anything JRE related. As the only accredited JRE training organisation, SyntheSys intention will be to provide training to NATO and Ministries of NATO Member Countries using the JRE systems. For more information regarding this, and any of our other training products, contact us at training@synthesys.co.uk or phone +44 (0)1947 821464.

MODAF Training

Following on from a very successful MODAF training event in Sweden, we are pleased to announce that we are able to provide an introductory level MODAF training course, which can be held wherever required.

This 2 and a half day course introduces the concept, and considers the principles behind MODAF. Delegates have the option to integrate their learning and any existing MODAF experience into an optional additional workshop). The training assumes that students attending the course will have little or no previous knowledge of MODAF.

The course aims to give students foundation-level knowledge of what MODAF is and is not, why it was developed, associated language and terminology, its potential advantages and disadvantages, and examples of its application.

If you would like any more information please contact us at training@synthesys.co.uk or visit our website at http://www.synthesystraining.co.uk/systems_engineering_training.html

Electronic Warfare Training

Electronic Warfare (EW) is one of the most important aspects of
modern Air, Land and Maritime warfare as it can affect a military
force’s use of communications, Radar, avionics, guided weapons
and Intelligence Surveillance Target Acquisition and
Reconnaissance (ISTAR) assets. EW has become an integral part in
the Find, Fix, Finish, Exploit, Analyse, Disseminate (F3EAD)
process.

In association with MASS, we are now able to offer EW training as
part of our existing portfolio. These courses may be included in an
existing TDL training course or presented as an independent
subject. MASS has considerable experience in the training of
foreign and domestic armed forces in all aspects of Air, Land and
Maritime EW, from Foundation to Advanced level. This
experience enables MASS to provide a unique mix of operational
and technical instruction, founded on UK military and scientific
experience.

For more information, see our website at http://www.synthesystraining.co.uk/EW_Training.html,
